Excellent touring saddlebag
I’ve had this bag for about 18 months now and used it for several lightweight tours. It’s totally waterproof and extremely convenient in use thanks to the two-sided access to the main compartment, the separate rear compartment, and the handy pouch in between. It’s easy to use the strap for the rear compartment to secure a jacket on top of the bag. And it’s a real boon to be able to slide the bag off the rack just by unclipping a couple of straps. The reflectives on the rear of the bag are excellent too.
The rack is quick to fit and remove, but be sure to do the quick-release up tight. On my frames (54cm) there’s not quite enough clearance to suspend the bag beneath the rack, so the bag sits on top. It’s worth taking a little care to fine-tune the position of the rack so the bag is carried close to the rear of the saddle and not too high.
It would be great if Arkel could produce a cargo net to fit on the loops on top of the bag. I haven’t been able to find one quite the right size.
Highly recommended.
